Vercel AI Gateway returns 403 Forbidden access_denied error despite valid credits

Vercel AI Gateway returns 403 Forbidden access_denied error despite valid credits - Help - Vercel Community

(edited)

Hi Vercel Team,

I’m experiencing the exact 403 Forbidden / access_denied issue with AI Gateway that many others have reported this year.

Error Details

{
  "error": {
    "message": "Forbidden.",
    "type": "access_denied"
  }
}

What I Have Confirmed

I still have AI credits remaining (gift credits are still there)
Valid credit card is attached to the account
Using the correct endpoint: https://ai-gateway.vercel.sh/v1
Freshly generated AI Gateway API Key (deleted old one and created new)
Tested with curl (same 403 error, no logs in Dashboard)

My Team ID: team_hPzD9pNn0d1uObz7E3PwW9v3

This is blocking all my AI calls. Could you please check for any account-level permission/scope restriction on my side and patch it if needed?

Thank you so much!

Have you got a credit card on file? Sometimes this is the culprit!

Thank you for your attention and reply! Yes, I already have a credit card on file.Btw, it was still working normally just a few days ago, but suddenly started returning 403 access_denied since yesterday..

I have the same issue. Can I have someone investigate my account? I'm getting close to launch and blocked until this is resolved. 😥

All requests to Vercel AI Gateway are returning 403 Forbidden with access_denied errors since today (May 22, 2026), despite the service previously working fine since March 15 with (no changes on my end). Requests aren't reaching upstream providers, suggesting an account-level block rather than a provider issue.

API key is valid, 2x credit cards on file (non-prepaid), account is verified, sufficient credits available
Team ID: team_QpogAKRqvbd0DqeMjASJkKkV
Error: {"error":{"message":"Forbidden.","type":"access_denied"}}
Endpoint: https://ai-gateway.vercel.sh/v1/...
No upstream provider logs visible
No recent changes to keys, settings, or implementation

Thanks! /cc

Hey , welcome to the community!

Thanks for sharing the details, I've passed this to the team to look into, will circle back when I have more info :)

Thanks Maya -- do you have an update on this? My account has been blocked for over two weeks now. I'd really like to keep iterating. Maybe I should just not rely on the hobby plan, but I haven't committed to using Vercel yet. 🫤

Hey ! I have chased this up, hopefully we get an answer for you soon - thank you for your patience

Hi Maya, It's been 61 days since I posted my support request, and I have yet to receive a reply from your team. 😥

looks like the team already reached out to you via your billing email, can you check your inbox (and potentially junk folder)?
