Today, we're focusing on the feedback loop. Great documentation isn't just written; it's observed and iterated upon. For docs, Web Analytics and Speed Insights are essential DX tools that we use every day at Vercel
Why your docs need a pulse:
-
Understand your audience (Analytics): See where users are reading from, and the device they're viewing on to make sure you're offering content accessible to everyone
-
Find Content Gaps (Analytics): Identify where developers are "bouncing." If users exit a guide immediately, it usually means the content is confusing or the code snippet is broken.
-
Respect User Attention (Speed Insights): A slow docs site breaks developer flow. Real User Monitoring (RUM) ensures your docs are performant and visually stable (no layout shifts while reading API specs!).
We've just made getting these insights effortless. With the new Vercel Agent Installation, you don't need to manually install packages or inject code. When you enable Analytics or Speed Insights in your dashboard, the Agent detects your framework and automatically opens a PR with the necessary configuration.
You can stop worrying about setup and start analyzing how your users actually read your docs.
